The autobiographical ceramic sculptures of Amanda Shelsher examine her views on the precarious nature of life and the importance of protecting our mental health. Her works also reflect her respect and concern for the environment and its current precarious state.
Working from home; where she is surrounded by her family. Amanda is constantly inspired by her daily observations of the growth of her children, their idealistic views of life, eagerness to learn and their affinity with nature.
“My children remind me of that sense of wonder and eagerness to learn and explore – and our shared love and appreciation of nature, either being in the depths of the Western Australian bush or being immersed somewhere along our stunning coastline. I hope to reflect this in the works, as I hope to create pieces that open our eyes to the inherent beauty around us.”
