Peter Usher & Margaret Heenan
Joint-Exhibition
13th — 30th October 2022
Peter Usher is a contemporary landscape painter based in Western Australia. His home studio is nestled in pristine native forest and close to the wild and unique coastline of the Great Southern region.
Inspired by that landscape his paintings sensitively combine natural elements of colour, light and texture with an ‘essence of place’. Each work is a fusion of landscape and experience that resonates within the viewers imagination and invite an intimate and considered response.
Perth-based Margaret Heenan consistently produces impeccably designed hand made glass art using vibrant colours and patterns. Margaret’s linear work is highly structured and restrained. She makes detailed drawings and paintings of her vintage designed pieces prior to cutting the glass, which must be accurate to achieve a seamless fit. They give Margaret a feeling of nostalgia having grown up in the “swinging 60’s and 70’s” when they were appearing on the mass market on wallpapers, home wares and textiles.
Her painterly pieces are strongly influences by her attraction to the Australian landscape, which is robust including great clarity of light. The colours, shape and complexity are endless.
